We have officially launched the beta of Simplicity Linux Desktop 13.7. We are currently in the process of uploading Simplicity Linux Obsidian and Netbook 13.7 betas. Media probably won't get a beta release because we are having some issues with it, but it should be ready to go for release on 28th July. The biggest change we've made between alpha and beta is we have officially moved from Carolina Linux as our base to LXPup. We like Xfce, we've been using it for a long time, but we think that LXDE is a better window manager, and if nothing else, it's more energy efficient. Of course, the biggest change you get because we've moved to LXPup is Gslapt.

The 64-bit and 32-bit variants of Netrunner 13.06 are available for download. Features and changes: new Netrunner desktop containment (no cashew, hidden plus/minus overlays); improved KWin performance, so full transparency works on most lower-end machines; new Kate minimap scrollbar; automatically activated KWallet; hot corner in lower right; simplified system settings; removed WINE (due to increased irrelevance); ALSA instead of PulseAudio for best compatibility and performance (intel hda); Firefox with (working) Mozilla app store; Steam installer link included; usual KDE goodies - Homerun 1.0, Tomahawk 0.7.

LXLE 12.04 20130707 is available. The LXLE project is a Lubuntu-based distribution which attempts to be very light on resources while also improving support for older hardware.

The second beta release of gNewSense 3.0 (code name 'Parkes') is available for download. The following issues have been fixed: the live installer (which can be started with the icon on the live desktop) works now, you also still have the text and GUI install boot menu options; the graphical installer now looks like gNewSense instead of Debian; OpenOffice.org is included in the default install; the boot menu is shorter so that items at the bottom are more easily readable. There's only a live CD for i386 so far. Netboot images will follow shortly. I will provide a live CD for amd64 too, but that needs a bit more work.

With this release we bring lots of enhancements and feature updates to the OS4 OpenLinux operating system. We have made several kernel enhancements that make the default kernel in OS4 OpenLinux that much faster and efficient. Also, many new hardware drivers are included that support more hardware, out of the box. Along with a new logo and an enhanced look and feel from our previous release, we have made OS4 OpenLinux one of the easiest to use operating systems that allow you to complete tasks quickly and efficiently. We have made some new changes in the application line-up.

We are pleased to announce that Korora 19 'Bruce' is now available for download, which for the first time ever coincides with the release of Fedora. Features: GNOME 3.8; KDE Plasma Workspaces 4.10; the Anaconda installer has support for many English locales. Of course this release comes with the usual Korora extras out of the box, such as: third party repositories (Chrome, RPMFusion, VirtualBox); full multimedia support including Adobe Flash plugin; Jockey device manager to handle drivers such as ATI and NVIDIA; Firefox as the default web browser (with integration theme for KDE); Firefox extensions enabled (Adblock Plus, DownThemAll, Flashblock, Xclear).

Sonar Gnome-Shell 13.04 is available. Sonar GNU/Linux is an Ubuntu-based distribution with pre-configured accessibility software. It is designed for users with disabilities that might affect their interaction with personal computers.

Ilya Mashkin has announced the release of ALT Linux 7.0 "Centaurus" and "Simply" editions. The "Centaurus" variant is a complete enterprise-class operating system featuring the MATE 1.6.0 desktop environment (even though the installation program calls it "GNOME"), while the "Simply" edition is an easy-to-use operating system customised for office workstations and home computers, and featuring the Xfce 4.10 desktop. Besides the usual i586 and x86_64 builds, the "Simply" edition is now also available for the Cubox (based on the Marvell Armada 510 processor) as well as the ARMv7 architecture. English, Russian and several other languages (depending on the edition) are supported.

The Fedora Project is delighted to announce the release of Fedora 19. What's new? Developer's Assistant is a tool for new developers that helps you to get started on a code project by offering templates, samples, and toolchains for a variety of languages; 3D modelling and printing are supported with OpenSCAD, Skeinforge, SFACT, Printrun, RepetierHost, and other tool options; OpenShift Origin makes it easy for you to build your own Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) infrastructure; MariaDB offers a truly open MySQL implementation and is now the default MySQL option in Fedora.

Calculate Linux 13.6 has been released to celebrate the 6th anniversary of the project. PCLinuxOS LXDE 2013.06 is now available for 64-bit, as well as 32-bit systems. Features: Linux kernel 3.4.49 for maximum desktop performance; full LXDE desktop; NVIDIA and ATI fglrx driver support; multimedia playback support for many popular formats; wireless support for many network devices; printer support for many local and networked printer devices; addlocale allows you to convert PCLinuxOS into over 60 languages; LibreOfficeManager can install LibreOffice supporting over 100 languages; MyLiveCD allows you to take a snapshot of your installation and burn it to a live CD or DVD.

The second testing release of Parsix GNU/Linux 5.0, code name 'Lombardo', is available now. This version ships with the GNOME 3.8.3 desktop environment and Linux kernel 3.8.13 built on top of the rock-solid Debian 'Wheezy' (7.0) platform. Most of the GNOME 3.8 packages have been upgraded to the latest versions and the look and feel is now complete. Also new updates from Debian 'Wheezy' repositories have been merged with the Parsix APT repositories. aLinux 17.0 Beta 3 has been released. Fixed a problem with some USB hardware not being detected during the initial "Install" or in general, "Live!" mode. Now allowing more time for some SCSI devices, e.g. USB-Pendrives,. and CD/DVDs to "spin" up, before booting into "Live!" mode. aLinux (formerly Peanut Linux) is an independently developed Linux distribution with RPM package management.

Slackel KDE-4.10.4 Live has been released. A collection of two KDE live ISO images that can be burned to a DVD or used with a USB drive are immediately available. The Slackel live DVD images include the Linux kernel. Slackel KDE-4.10.4 Live includes the 'Current' tree of Slackware and KDE 4.10.4 accompanied by a very rich collection of KDE-centric software. Firefox 21.0, KMail, KTorrent, Akregator, Kopete... In the multimedia section VLC 2.0.6, Clementine 1.1.1, K3b 2.0.2 are included. The Salix codecs installer application can be used to quickly and easily install patent-encumbered codecs to your system. Calligra Words, Calligra Stage, Calligra Tables are the main office applications present.

A new version of OpenMandriva LX is ready for bug hunting. There is still a lot of work to do, some already identified bugs to fix and artwork to implement.
