Now, is the turn of the Steam Controller, a futuristic game controller or gamepad designed to be a replacement for the traditional gaming keyboard and mouse.

What about the Steam Machine, the hardware platform that will be released in 2014? For that, we know that based on the quote below, there will be more than one version.

Current versions of the Rock and Paper run the Android operating system and retail for US$79 and US$99 apiece. Both share just about the same specs, other than the fact that the APC Paper does not have a VGA port and ships in a book-like case.

GNOME Software is a Fedora project, so I don’t think it is available on any other distribution at this stage. It’s definitely not available on pre-release editions of Ubuntu GNOME 13.10. Here are some screen shot of it, which I took from a test installation of Fedora 20 alpha.

So while Valve Software is still working on the Steam Machine, you can download this edition of Sabayon Linux, burn it to a DVD (it’s a 1.4 GB ISO file) or transfer it to a USD stick, boot it from any computer, and enjoy your “Steam Machine.”

To outsiders like me, the announcement of the formation of Cyanogen, Inc. was a bit of a surprise. And the fact that the company succeeded in raising millions of venture capital (VC) funds was even more surprising.

Then I came across Lekture, a KDE Education application. I don’t think that it has all the features that the commercial equivalents on Windows have, but at this stage in its development, it looks good.

The analysis also showed that HoT does not work as advertised, at least not yet. But the interesting part of the result of the analysis that peeked my interest concerns how HoT fared on Ubuntu 12.04 and Fedora 19, two distributions it was tested on.

He makes a somewhat valid point, but he’s attempting to draw a hard boundary between usability and user-friendliness, forgetting that one derives from the other. If you build a “usable” system, people will tend to say that it is “user-friendly,” regardless of the technical capabilities of the users.

Parsix is one of those desktop distributions that I had a lot of hope for back when I started reviewing distributions for this site. But since, Parsix 3.7 (see Parsix 3.7 review), which was released back in mid-August of 2011, I lost any interest in it.

The keyword here is “appears,” because when I checked the memory used for just running, without any activity, PMC uses almost twice as much memory as XBMC.

Rather, it uses a custom desktop interface called Pantheon, which like the Depth Desktop Environment of Linux Deepin, is built atop GNOME 3 technologies.
