As the zero days in Adobe Flash continue to pile up, Mozilla has taken the unusual step of disabling by default all versions of Flash in Firefox. The move is a temporary one as Adobe prepares to patch two vulnerabilities in Flash that were discovered as a result of the HackingTeam document dump last week. Both vulnerabilities are use-after-free bugs that can be used to gain remote code execution.

Streaming video to multiple people always has been a challenge. Web architect Cleaver Barnes makes websites do interesting and useful things, which is to say he focuses on the code more than the visuals. His first major use of open source was Linux in the mid-'90s. It allowed him to do things that weren't possible in Windows at the time. Since then he has worked building web apps with Java J2EE and other technologies. In 2007, he started working with Drupal. Three years later he started Verge Interactive to focus on it. In 2007, GlusterFS revolutionized the way large, distributed storage solutions were implemented across organizations—anyone could now use commodity hardware to create distributed storage solutions for media streaming, data analysis and other data intensive tasks using GlusterFS. Red Hat acquired GlusterFS in 2011. Recently one of the founders of GlusterFS, Anand Babu Periasamy, announced a new open source project, Minio. This article is to explain what OpenPOWER application binary interface (ABI)introduces to improve performance of function call. Different from the 64-bit PowerPC ELF ABI Supplement 1.9 (ELF ABI v1), OpenPOWER ABI gets rid of function descriptor and doesn't require callers to initialize environment any more. Aligned with current industry practice, it makes the callees set up the TOC pointer in place, introduces dual entry to ensure the establishment as required, and uses trampoline to support lexical nesting function calls.

The use-after-free() programming flaws, for which no patches exist, are identified as CVE-2015-5122 and CVE-2015-5123. They are similar to the CVE-2015-5119 Flash bug patched last week. The 5122 and 5123 bugs let malicious Flash files execute code on victims' computers and install malware. The bugs are present in the Windows, Linux and OS X builds of the plugin.
