Indie Royal is another great game bundle that has been getting lots of love from the community. Every two weeks, a new game bundle is served. So far, Indie Royale team has released many bundles in past but most of the times, games were not available for Linux. However, they have launched a new 'Alpha Collection' bundle where all games are available for Linux. These games are currently in Alpha stages of development. By paying minimum amount of $5 (current minimum), you get three games, all subsequent updates and the final version. These proceeds will help devs in funding the game development.

In a blog post today, Adobe made an announcement that it is working with Google to bring Flash Player to Linux users via Google Chrome's Pepper plugin API. After, version 11.2 is released later this year, standalone installers won't be provided for Linux. Other browsers that are not using Pepper API (Firefox, Opera etc) will have to stick with 11.2. However, Adobe has promised to provide security updates to these browsers for 5 years.

FlightGear, a free and open source flight simulator has received yet another major update and many new features have introduced. FlightGear features more than 400 aircraft, a worldwide scenery database, a worldwide multi-player environment, detailed sky modelling, a flexible and open aircraft modelling system, varied networking options, multiple display support, a powerful scripting language and an open architecture. Best of all, being open-source, the simulator is owned by the community and everyone is encouraged to contribute.

Starfarer is an open world space exploration and role playing game for Linux. The player is a space captain who is out for an adventure to seek fortune and glory and commands a fleet in tactical battles in a war torn star system. Starfarer also has mod support for custom user-made factions, missions, ships and weapons.

Raspberry Pi Foundation has released first SD card image for $25 computers that will go on sale on February 20. Based on Debian Squeeze (6.0), the image includes LXDE interface, Midori web browser, development tools and example source code for multimedia functions.

All right everyone, there is a good news. Pre-orders for KDE Plasma Active/Mer based tablet Spark has just started. Plasma Active is a joint project by the KDE community, basysKom and open-slx. The goals for this open source project are to deliver a fast embedded UX platform with minimal memory requirements, provide customizable and modular to support different form factors and design an interface that adapts as users change Activities. Plasma Active is intended for all types of tablets, smartphones and touch computing devices such as settop boxes, smart TVs, home automation or in-vehicle infotainment.

Getting Things Gnome is one of the most popular organizer/to-do application for Linux. However, there has been lack of updates in last couple of years and many users thought that the project is dead. Proving them wrong, GTG developers released a new preview release version 2.9 which will eventually turn into stable 3.0 series. This release brings many new changes including those contributed by GSoC developers. There are also plans to improve GTG Web Application.

A new 3D science fiction adventure game Cradle will be released this spring. Based on Unigine game engine, Cradle will feature beautiful surroundings and rich 3D graphics. The game is made by indie game studio Flying Cafe. The developers team have lots of experience as they have worked on games like S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Heroes of Might and Magic 5, Allods Online, Ascension to the Throne etc. Cradle will be available for Linux users.

Kazam Screencaster version 1.2.0 has been released. This is the latest stable version and many new changes and fixes have made into this release. Kazam is a full featured screencasting application for Linux and unlike many other similar apps, Kazam uses gstreamer as backend and not ffmpeg.

Zelda Classic (ZC) is a tribute to one of the greatest video games of all time: Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda. It has been developed into an exact replica of the NES version. Beyond that, Zelda Classic allows the development of new quests that can use either the traditional graphics or enhanced graphics, as well as new enemies, items, and challenges. Zelda Classic works very well in Linux and lots of custom quests can be played.

RebeccaBlackOS is the first Live CD having Wayland display server on it and various toolkits (QT, GTK, Clutter etc.) Currently It does start to xorg, and there it has an icon for launching Wayland nested in X. If you want to start it native, switch to tty1 by hitting ctrl-alt-f1, and typing sudo westoncaller. to go back to X switch to TTY 7 or 8, by hitting ctrl-alt-f7, or ctrl-alt-f8. RebeccaBlackOS maintainer Nerdpolis will soon implement starting of Live CD in Wayland server.

More details on Mer/KDE Plasma Active Tablet Spark has been revealed. Pre-order registration will open early next week and the tablet will start shipping in May 2012. It will be available online and orders will be accepted worldwide.

$25 credit card size ARM Linux PC Raspberry Pi is getting lots of love from community. First, XBMC playing HD video was shown shown off at Scale 10x. Now a specific Linux distribution Raspbmc is being developed by Stm Labs which is specially optimized for Raspberry Pi. XBMC team is not involved with development of Raspbmc. However, they are pleased that new distributions are making it easy to deploy XBMC on Raspberry Pi. XBMC team will continue to work on improving the XBMC experience on rPi and other systems.

New Humble Indie Bundle is now live. As usual, the bundle is up for any price that you want to pay, supports charity and all games are cross platfrom and DRM free. One of the best Turn Based Strategy games for Linux The Battle for Wesnoth has been updated to version 1.10. This release brings massive new features and updates to the game. If you haven't tried the game yet, give it a shot and you will surprised at the level of polish and depth of gameplay. The open source project is extremely popular among Linux gamers. Thanks to the developers, contributors and maintainers for updating it regularly. This release includes new features by developers who contributed to the game via Google Summer of Code (GSoC).

OpenRA is a free and open source real time strategy game engine supporting early Westwood games like Command & Conquer (C&C) and Command & Conquer: Red Alert. If you have original Red Alert files, you can use them with OpenRA. But, they are not necessary. Both original C&C: Red Alert and C&C has been recreated as mods and can be downloaded from game menu itself. They are not just clones of the original versions but provide improved and rebalanced gameplay. OpenRA runs very well on Linux netbooks.

Aaron J. Seigo, from KDE Plasma Active development team has revealed a tablet which could be the first device to come with Plasma Active pre-installed. Named 'Spark', the tablet features an open Linux stack on unlocked hardware and comes with open content and services market.

Open Source Linux based gaming handheld and mini-laptop Pandora has created lots of buzz when it was revealed 4 years back. Since then the project has gone under numerous rough stages, production issues, tech spec changes and financial problems. A limited batch of 4000 units was available for pre-orders but not everyone has got the device on time. However, it looks like that bad time is finally over. They tested a prototype recently and it was a 100% success. Pandora will go into mass production next month in Germany.

GameGadget is a new Linux based gaming handheld developed by Blaze Europe. It will support both open source and proprietary games and games/apps will be distributed though its own app store. GameGadget will provide all the tools to help developers create their own games. Open source and cross compiling libraries like SDL can be used. Developers will also be able to port their existing games with its SDK.

Hack, Slash, Loot is a single-player turn-based dungeon crawler Linux. You take control of a lone hero and explore sprawling dungeons, fight dangerous monsters and plunder valuable treasures. The game features perma-death and randomly generated dungeons making it a nice coffee break game.
