On August 28, the Project Leader and Founder of OpenIndiana, Alasdair Lumsden, resigned from his position effective immediately. OpenIndiana was the fork of which was originally OpenSolaris. When Oracle announced to sudden death of OpenSolaris, post their acquisition of former technology giant, Sun Microsystems, it was quickly forked and split into two entirely new entities.

Gooseberry is another alternative to Raspberry Pi, and according to the manufacturers it is three times faster than its rival. This new berry comes with a new ARM A10 processor running at 1GHz stock frequency, while there is enough headroom for overclocking up to 1.5 GHz. Also, it has twice the RAM of Raspberry Pi, meaning 512MB for this board. As for its power consumption, Gooseberry board consumes on average 4 watts of power when in use. When idle consumes 3.5 watts of power and when on standby consumes 2.3 watts of power.

Recently, a team of passionate GNOME developers Ayatana, made Ubuntu’s Unity desktop available for Fedora. Their repository is currently available at OpenSUSE Build Service and it’s ready to be tested from developers.

GWoffice (Google Web Office ) is a nice application that bring you google drive to your desktop without using a web browser. It allows you to use google docs at it was installed in your computer by offering a nice interface to its editing abilities, also gives you basic syncing for offline use.

Reading the articles about Blizzard banning Linux users for using wine and not giving a refund made me think that the main problem once again, is the number of users using wine to play Diablo III. If the percentage was 15% for example, Blizzard would never ban them because they would love to keep them around buying more extra stuff when they release it.
