Adobe has released Flash Player version 11.2 with many new features. This is last and final Flash Player release for Linux platform and now onward there will be only security and bug fix updates. Last month Adobe announced that it is withdrawing Flash Player support for Linux platform. All the future newer Flash releases will be bundled with Google Chrome using its Pepper API and for everything else, 11.2 will be the last release.

Wasteland, the original post-apocalyptic RPG game will have a sequel as Wasteland 2. Brian Fargo who Executive Produced both Wasteland and Fallout will be heading the team.Wasteland 2 was on Kickstarter for last few days with a target of $900k. A Linux version was promised at $1.5 million funding and they have made it to this mark. So yes, there will be a Linux version and you can confirm a DRM free copy for yourself for $15. The game won't be a first person shooter. With a top down perspective you will get a tactical feel for the situation. It will be turn based, tactical, with a storyline that will be deeper and broader.

WebGL is an amazing technology that allows hardware accelerated 3D animations and effects in browsers without any need of 3rd party plugins. Firefox has enabled WebGL for most of the modern graphic cards. However if you have an older graphic card, WebGL may be disabled in Firefox as Mozilla devs have blacklisted older GPUs based on driver version numbers. This is good step which ensures more stability and less crashes. However, your graphic card may be blacklisted even if it supports WebGL.

Anonymous Hacker Group has released their own Ubuntu based distribution named Anonymous OS. It uses Ubuntu 11.10 as base and comes with MATE desktop environment. Many applications useful for Web security and other Anonymous approved apps are pre-installed. Anonymous OS is created for educational purposes and for tightening web security. The group has advised not to use these tools for attacking any web page or some other kind of illegal activities.

Every once in a while there is some news on Unity3D Linux web player support. Sometimes it excites us and most of the times the situation seems all the more dismal. Much awaited game Mari0 has been released today for Linux. Mari0 is a mashup of Nintendo's Super Mario Bros. and Valve's Portal style gameplay. The game is completely free and open source.

Arx Libertatis is an attempt to bring 3D First Person Role Playing Game Arx Fatalis to Linux. Arx Fatalis was open sourced last year and since than the awesome people behind Arx Libertatis are working to make the game cross platform.

Credit card size ARM Linux computer, Raspberry Pi is now available for purchase. Currently Model B priced at $ 35 is on sale. Model A ($25) will be available later this year. The main difference from the Model A is that Model B include an Ethernet port, and 2 USB ports. Also, the sale has been limited to one unit per person.

In a community survey of about 5,000 participants, Unity came out as the most hated desktop environment followed by Gnome Shell. Gnome 2.x is still favorite of most of the Linux users.
