Although Lycoris Desktop/lx 1.4 is a modern Linux based desktop operating system, which was released in the last 6 months and has relatively up to date packages, I would compare its usability to that of Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition. I think the system would be a good desktop for my little sister, all kids in general, and my Nana. However, my Mum & I require a more advanced system to meet our needs.

Changes in Lycoris as a company

Joseph Cheek CEO of Lycoris has published a letter to their customers and the community. In the letter Joe addresses many outstanding issues that have gone unresolved over the past few months, and outlines major changes to Lycoris the company, the products, and future direction. Quote: "... During the past week I have felt that there are other unresolved issues with Lycoris as a company. In particular, I have taken a hard look at our current business model and whether it is sustainable or not. Currently I conclude that our business model is not sustainable, and have decided to make some other fundamental changes. ..."

This is a rant Jim Smerk wrote about how people always call you to work on their computers, don't listen to you when you tell them something, and what he did to stop it. It's a rant also against WinTel and AOL. However, it has a happy ending. It started 6 months ago, it’s a sort of success story of sorts.
