Haven't had dependency problems on Red Hat/Fedora systems since I started using apt and never had them with Debian from the beginning. And there is Synaptic interface for apt for you GUI type of people. Overall though I thought it was a fair article from someone in the mainstream press that doesn't seem to have a lot of Linux experience. I would also say that you'll probably have a "harder" time on "Windows Ready PCs" than you will with those that don't make such a claim (winmodem, winprinter, etc). A little bit of hardware research prior to the purchase goes a long way. I also run Linux on much hardware that Windows will not run on (Sparc, PPC, Alpha, MIPS, etc).

Apt on Red Hat: http://voidmain.is-a-geek.net/redhat/fedora_1_apt-get_must_h...

I just ordered a WRT54G for $59 a few days ago. Hasn't arrived yet, but after seeing your Beautiful WRT54G site I can't wait.

You can't beat the price and they are so versatile. I have two of the WRT54G units (a v1.1 and a v2.0). If I were to buy another one today I would get the WRT54GS which has twice the RAM, twice the Flash memory and I think it has a significantly faster CPU. This message was edited Jul 19, 2004 9:28 PM
