I found it interesting that the author posting an article on opensource.com it using Photoshop to convert his image. I stopped reading. No opensource tool to do this on Linux I guess.

What? He already mentioned the Gimp before he got to Photoshop. Yes, there are open source tools to convert to WebP, like the Gimp and "cwebp" and ImageMagick's "convert" command. They work equally well on my Slackware-current system.

If you still claim "no opensource tool on Linux", I call b---s---.

I use gThumb as my main image-processing app. You can call GIMP (or any other photo app) to edit an image through gThumb if you wish, but 99.9% of the time gThumb does everything I need.
