Notepad++ is not Linux software, true enough, but it is Free/Open Source Software licensed under GPL 2.0. Its source code is available on Github here: https://github.com/notepad-plus-plus/notepad-plus-plus |

Quoting:why is this post here, it is about WINDOWS, not linux... Quoting:Notepad++ is not Linux software, true enough, but it is Free/Open Source Software licensed under GPL 2.0. A very few of the more popular F/LOSS GUI text and code editors among all Linux users are (in alphabetical order) - Atom - Bluefish - Brackets - Geany It is likely a matter of opinion whether XEmacs should or should not be included here as well. |

XEmacs is dead: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XEmacs but Emacs caught up with XEmacs already a long time ago, so you could include that, and add gvim while you are at it :-) greetings, eMBee. |

Since it's a free program, it certainly belongs on this site. It also happens to be my go-to editor when I'm running Windows. |
