Controversially, I think Microsoft has a point.

There are several security feature updates in Windows 10 vs. Windows 7 or 8. These changes may be confusing to Windows users: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-security/folder-and-file-permissions-changed-in-windows-10/38bb51a5-8cfb-4349-b635-0fdae1287eb0?auth=1 But the changes do indeed make for a more secure user experience. And there are other changes detailed in various places: https://blogs.windows.com/business/2014/10/22/windows-10-security-and-identity-protection-for-the-modern-world/ Again... this is all probably very confusing to end users of Windows... but it does increase user security. I'm sure Microsoft has its own interests at heart pushing users to upgrade [or some might say downgrade] to Windows 10. However, Windows 10 may very well actually be more secure than prior versions of Microsoft Monstrosity OS. And there is a real problem translating the new security features into descriptions that make sense to an average Windows user. Maybe Microsoft should produce a video detailing the differences and what those differences mean in terms of end user security... I don't know... and I really don't care that much what MS does. However, it's likely that the push to Windows 10 has at least a hefty portion of security updates which are beneficial to end-users. |
