This article reads as if a speech recognition engine is being developed to run natively on Linux systems. This is NOT the case. What we have here is a wrapper around "cloud services". Specifically, this project will send your voice commands to Google for processing. Make sure that you understand and are willing to accept the privacy implications of this before deploying this on your own systems. You should make your own decisions of course, but for me I will not be connecting my living room microphone to the Google servers. Sorry Google, you will have to look elsewhere for other people's private data. Mine is not available. |
