This issue has been haunting the Pi since the beginning. Why - there have been several explanations, but none conclusive AFAIK. The maintainers have taken some measures to address it, but none sufficient IMHO. The "low-write" configuration should have been the default, I think. I don't know if the newer versions of the Pi (which uses mini-SD cards) suffer from the same problem. Personally, I think it's a bit naive to run it in a write-happy configuration. I've taken measures (like the author) suggests to minimize the number of writes and that configuration now runs for over a year 24/7 - including surviving an odd power blackout. |
