It seems to be a seemless upgrade

I upgraded a Mint 17 desktop on a test machine and that went just fine. I then upgraded Mint 17 on my laptop to 17.1 after I did a complete backup of that machine. Please do that folks. You will save yourselves a lot of grief down the road. Anyway that upgrade went fine too. I also recommend you upgrade the kernel after you check that everything is working. |

Just curious, what kernel are you using? I tried the 3.16 LTS and 3.17.4 kernels, before going back to the recommended one - 3.13.0-37. All of them worked on my Mint 17.1 with Cinnamon - running on an all Intel chipset laptop. But I went back to the recommended one, since I need stability on this production laptop right now. |

Upgraded my laptop to 17.1 without any issues. I had backed up my /home directory first. Users of NVDIA cards should read the release notes, that seems to be the biggest issue with the release. |

Sounds good, but I believe the word you are looking for is seamless. |

Did the same here at home and on my work laptop. No problems encountered. |
