Well, since MS owns NBC, it's not surprising that they show Ubuntu as a tool for hackers. Actually, it IS a better tool for hackers (or anyone who knows what they are doing with computers and wants the most control over them). But, as you know, MS is targeting the low-information crowd with anti-Linux propaganda. |

They'd be laughed off the air-waves if they showed the "hackers" using Windows and VB.NET . |

> They'd be laughed off the air-waves if they showed the "hackers" using Windows and VB.NET . You have a point there, but consider NBC's news audience. |

The question I have is, did they identify the Operating System (including screen shots of it's boot logo), or identify Linux as hackers' OS anywhere in the story itself? Because most people aren't smart enough to realize what OS they were shown unless told... |

[serious] MS does not own NBC. Actually it might be a bit worse, a cable company: Comcast owns the network. Previous owner was GE. [confirmed] Your confusion may stem from the NBC owned cable franchise MSNBC, where the former (MS) was bought out several years ago. [memory only] [/serious] YBT |

Windows is the system for hackers. To break into. |

Do any of you know the "Broken Window Theory of Crime?" Now when crime rates are down in some localities, minor infarctions can become a capital offense. Worse still, the perpetrators are unaware of these new facts. Some now die without the niceties of even being indicted. Nor are the given the option of pleading for a lessor offense. While capital punishment carried out through the legal process seems to be atrophying street justice has taken an opposite course. So please do not mock, MS's broken windows, you could incite a lynch mob. As always, YBT |
