With Canonical making noises about restricting access to their repositories, Clem and friends might want to mix and match their own set of repos. With a two year rather than six month window they could support their own recompiled set of Ubuntu repositories, mix them with Debian's, and add in their own. That would let them merge the Mint and LMDE branches and give them more control of their distribution. |
