Will it actually be faster than the haswell celeron though?

Processor are so complicated these days! Even though the old Samsung process (ARM) was rated at more "ghz" than this Haswell chip - there is zero doubt that the Haswell is actually the faster chip.

I wonder how this compares.

Agreed.

We should be comparing systems on the basis of benchmark comparisons and not on the basis of the cores/GHz specs.

You young whipper-snappers. We used to call it "The Megahertz Myth". You don't even know what a "megahertz" is. Coddled youngins.

Its Meaningless Hertz just like Meaningless Instructions Per Second (MIPS) that IBM Invented.

A good processor is as good as the overall good system that can be built around it.

I seriously doubt that this new Chromebook will outperform the Haswell based Chromebooks. It may, however, be thinner and lighter and/or have better battery life. It also will probably not have a fan of any kind, which the Haswell ones do, though it is small, quiet and thus relatively unobtrusive.

Under the right conditions, the more constrained Thumb instruction set is faster than the full ARM. 32% faster, in fact.
