Microsoft should be able to make Office compatible with ODF in not too long. And then, they can compete on the basis of how "easy to use" Microsoft Office is. giggle |

IIRC, MS has already been 'working' on it for over 6 years. But the fact that MS can't get it right should not surprise anyone. Last I checked, they have coding bugs dealing with footnotes in Word that have been around since the early 90s. That's what I call 'technically superior'! |

For them to possibly get it right (or somewhere close to right), Microsoft would have to actually want to correctly support ODF. This is not the case since proper support for ODF would provide a key to escape Microsoft lock-in, and they don't want that. Of course, Microsoft has also tried to condition their customers to be afraid to use any alternative format to doc/docx. |

Which is amusing considering how frequently documents are broken when one uses a different version of Office to generate the document from the one used to view it.
