Continuous snapshots are nice, but... I used NILFS2 for a while, and got what appeared to be a damaged filesystem, although it might also have been a damaged package manager database. I couldn't tell the difference because there is no fsck for NILFS2 yet. I wonder to who it would make sense to use a filesystem that lets you recover from user error but not from programmer error and light hardware failure... NILFS2 is indeed slow, especially when using programs that need to access many files. It is an interesting filesystem and I hope it will become useful to me someday. |
