I actually think this makes the Fedora developers look good. They are releasing when ready rather than being slaves to an arbitrary release date. I think a lot of Ubuntu's issues could be solved by adopting the sort of procedures the Fedora developers are using. Do it right, don't do it fast if fast isn't right. |

One of the blockers is a new update mechanism. Fedora (and by extension RHEL) has always been very weak compared to Debian (and by extension the other way, Ubuntu) in terms of successfully performing an in-place upgrade from one release to another. My own experience with Fedora upgrades was not successful (this was F13-to-14). If they can get this upgrade system working, it'll will be a big step for Fedora now and RHEL later. It's a huge deal, and they need to get it right. |
