This mini how-to is relevant for Chromium or Chrome on any platform. It did not need to be labeled as Mint specific. |

Actually it doesn't tell you anything important at all. It only demonstrates how to change from one Mint preselected search engine to another Mint preferred search engine. On Firefox, probably also on Chrome, attempting to locate a different search engine, such as say iXQuick (a search engine not on the Mint preferred list) will get you redirected to the Mint website, rather than the firefox search engines list. I ended up doing a search via the Mint preferred search engine for iXQuick and installing it from the iXQuick website. |

With Firefox the relevant configuration files are:
/usr/lib/firefox/defaults/pref/vendor.js
/usr/lib/firefox-addons/extensions/mint-search-enhancer@linuxmint.com Just use dpkg-divert to move or delete the originals and add your own. This way updates will not cause them to revert. |
