Apparently this reviewer doesn't bother to do any homework before reviewing a distribution. While he comments on the use of Compiz effects in Linux Mint 13 Cinnamon and even describes how its effects are configured, it should be noted that Compiz is incompatible with Cinnamon. Cinnamon uses the Clutter window manager. While Cinnamon does indeed include a small selection of animations and effects (expo for example) it does not use Compiz to generate these effects. |

Yes that was a bad mistake I must say. He is correct however that Cinnamon rocks! It still drops out occasionally for me so is not entirely stable but Clem has made astounding progress in 6 months. |

@ montezuma Oh yes, I agree that Cinnamon absolutely rocks! I actually run Linux Mint Debian Edition with Cinnamon which is, IMHO the best Debian implementation ever. Also the way that the Mint devs intercept incoming packages from Testing to ensure stability before releasing them to users in the form of Update Packs is brilliant and ensures rock solid stability. Of course advanced users are free to track Debian Squeeze, Testing or even Sid if they so choose too. Mint really is one of the best Linux Distros. |
