At least for me. That, along with info. collection has been bothering me for a while. I finally I switched back to Firefox. It is fast and has all the add-ons I need. I shouldn't have to do such clean up myself. |

which info collection? you can turn off anything that sends data to google. i agree with the memory though, but there may be a trade off, purging memory could slow things down, and, it might be an experimental feature...(but i have no clue actually) switching back seems hard though.one of these days i should check if firefox has similar plugins to what i use in chromium (i would be surprised if it didn't) and then see if i can feel the difference. greetings, eMBee. |

Quoting:which info collection? Almost every time I installed one of the add-on I use, a warning came up and tells me this so & so collects so & so info. Bottom line is, overall, I trust Firefox more than Google. Firefox has many more add-ons than Chrome. Autohide is one that Chrome doesn't yet have an equivalent to. It allows forcing Firefox to automatically come up in full screen mode necessary for an app. I developed for a small company. In terms of speed, Firefox is as fast as Chrome now if not faster in some situations. Firefox is mature while Chrome in a way is still in development. The only thing I like in Chrome over Firefox is the neat shape of tabs. |

wait? you are complaining that chrome warns you about add-ons possibly collecting data? and firefox doesn't warn you? are you aware that firefox add-ons could be collecting data too? this is not about google collecting data. this is about trusting 3rd party add-ons. you shouldn't be trusting those. you could argue that the warning is meaningless and annoying, and i could see that as a fair reason to switch away from chrome for that reason. but again, unless i missunderstand you, this is not about google collecting data. i don't install new addons that often. in fact i almost never install addons. (i have half a dozend running now) and i don't even remember when i last saw that warning. greetings, eMBee. |

@eMBee, No I am not complaining about the warning being annoying, actually I credit Google for doing that. But are you telling me that Firefox could be collecting data and not telling/warning us about it? No I am not aware of that and I assume they are not doing that since I read some where that their policy is not to. Do you have reliable information? Well try installing these add-ons. AdBlock Plus, Tabs to the front, Inline Search & Lookup, Google Dictionary (by Google), Dropdown List of Most Visited Links, Context Menu Button for Google Dictionary To their credit again, they all have configurable/selectable switch for Allow in incognito . Edited: I found this link for Firefox Adblock, I am not sure if it is the same as Chrome. At the end, it says, Quoting: Adblock Plus stores some data in the Firefox profile on your computer. Adblock Plus never transmits this data to any servers, but other extensions and services, such as Firefox Sync, may do so. Most of the data (your preferences, filter subscriptions and custom filters) is unobjectionable privacy-wise. However, filter hit statistics and recent issue reports could be used to reconstruct your browsing history. Adblock Plus treats this information identically to how history data is treated by the browser: this data isn't stored if you are using Private Browsing mode and is removed if you choose to clear your browsing history. And this link for Firefox Privacy Policy |

ok, i do seem to missunderstand something:
fettoosh wrote:this sounds to me you are complaining about potential info collection of add-ons, not about info collection by google. but since you then say:Quoting:which info collection?Almost every time I installed one of the add-on I use, a warning came up and tells me this so & so collects so & so info Quoting:I am not complaining about the warning being annoying, actually I credit Google for doing that.it seems you mean something else above. Quoting:are you telling me that Firefox could be collecting data and not telling/warning us about it?no, i am specifically talking about warning about 3rd-party add-ons. inferring from what you said above that chrome warns about those and firefox aparently doesn't. (i have not installed any add-ons lately so i don't actually know for either browser what really happens) greetings, eMBee. |

I am not definite about one thing that I have seen many times while using Chrome. I use KDE and KWalet is usually enabled by default. Many times KWalet displays a message saying Chrome is requesting permission to access Kwalet ( rephrasing) when I know for a fact that I wasn't installing anything. I always rejected that and nothing happened, at least to my knowledge. That happened many times and opened my eyes wondering what is going on. I wasn't able to determine what it was and didn't pursue it any further. It could have been nothing, but never know. KWalet usually is very sensitive and some times it does requests authorization for things that don't need root permission, like wireless network. So it could one such case. I never had anything similar to that while in Firefox. |

ah, thanks for clarifying. not using kwallet, i don't get this kind of messages. good question what that is about though. greetings, eMBee. |
