Phil Shapiro nails it here on Tux Paint. Of course, if you don't have children it may not resonate, but for those of us who have spawned and have seen our offspring use it, Tux Paint is clearly more than just a drawing program -- it's an educational tool.

Hats off to Bill Kendrick for the software.

TuxPaint is my kid's No. 1 program -- they even use it at her school (though I'm not sure how they run it under Windows). She's running it on ol' Ubuntu 10.04 at home, by the way.

Steven_Rosenber -- There's a Windows version of Tux Paint, as well as a MacOS version. My daughter Mimi used it a lot when she was younger, and now that she's 14 she's well into GIMP and Inkscape and other programs. But I think much of her artistic talent comes from hours of using Tux Paint when she was a kid.
