I was looking forward to a discussion of privacy in the face of increasing legal intervention.

May I suggest as background the book "The Puzzle Palace" by James Bamford, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Puzzle_Palace

I recently had an opportunity to ask, in passing, someone who works at one of the big cable/fiber termination points, about "sniffing". His response was only surprising in its honesty, "There's a WHOLE lotta sniffing going on." That is exactly where the conversation ended, there was no need to elaborate by either of us.

Bamford details how the sea cables, satellites and into the inter-carrier phone system, were all tapped, recorded, sniffed and copied to the NSA from the very start.

I know folks who use off-shore remailers and VPN terminations, although finding them has become far more difficult since the FBI took down anon.pnet.fi and raped their customer records.

Considering what I've read about the effectiveness of "seized" materials in criminal prosecutions, it's clear that the 4th Amendment should have read, "against search and seizure" and ended right there.

One point of concern, the NSA veteran on the advisory board.

The NSA is much like the CIA, people don't get out. They are released.

Kinda makes you want to boycott kickstarter for not making their service more accessible, especially for such projects as these. Would be nice to have open source blueprints so that others could employ in their surroundings--as it is this will be like all great things: targeting major cities while the rest of us simply help fund and hope to get the service in the next 5-10 yrs....

The horra!!!!!
