COBOL is dead? While not the the 800 lb. gorilla it once was, it still seems to be going for a 50+ year old language...

Not my first programming language, but it did pay the bills for a while back in the 90's.

I don't think much new is being written in COBOL these days. Problem is there's so much legacy stuff around, it's taking a bit of killing off.

I think that's what they are referring to.

I mean really - other than portable (and slow) code what does java have going for it?
