US$55 because of a $20 "handling charge", presumably for importing.

That seems a little ridiculous IMO. Importing doesn't cost anything at all, except slightly higher postage costs. I have a small business where I ship $30-120 orders all the time outside the US, and it always costs less than $5 for total postage (assuming they don't want Priority or Express or overnight service). There's no fees for import or export for items worth less than $2500, and $35 is positively cheap, not worth paying for the extra expensive shipping with full door-to-door tracking.

Edit: In addition, there's all kinds of stuff you can buy on Ebay for < $5 which is shipped directly from China or Hong Kong or eastern Europe. I bought some electronics tweezers on there not long ago for $2, and that included shipping from HK. I've also bought CDs from Russia on there. There are no importation costs when shipping cheap items into the US. I think it's insulting that they want an extra $20 just to fill out a customs form.

Demand was huge apparently. Might wait until the operation becomes clearer and it is sold directly in the US.

The price is just amazing.
