Symantic, McAfee, VeriSign? Well, that's not as surprising -- it's been a while since anyone wanted their opinions on any policy of significance. And IBM and Cisco have nothing to say about SOPA? that is surprising, and one has to wonder why not? Juniper Networks -- ditto. But Red Hat !? Not having something they want to say about SOPA, even in response to the direct question -- really? That is indeed rather odd. Sean Michael Kerner (the author) is dead on the mark; "strangely silent" is exactly how to describe this avoidance of response. I hope Mr Kerner will continue to follow up on this, and do whatever digging is necessary to get to the bottom of this story. |

Bernard, I am guessing, and tell me if I am looking at this wrong....In politics, today's allies are tomorrow's enemies. I think the corporations mentioned above, plus a whole bunch more are staying neutral because they might have to go hat in hand to Congress some day. They don't want the PIPISOP saga thrown back into their faces. My dad used to refer to this behavior as "Playing both ends against the middle." I have another name for it, but I will refrain from voicing my opinion here, lest I paint with too broad a brush. One name I see that wasn't mentioned yet...... LXer. |

Well, that may answer the question with regards to Red Hat http://lxer.com/module/newswire/view/161181/index.html It appears Red Hat was perhaps attempting to pick the most effective moment. |
