hooking up my local network via sshfs, instead of using samba (I decided to dump samba). I've been having problems with Samba, especially when transfering large files and other little issues with reliability (interestingly they appear to be similar to the problems that one finds on Windows ... so kudos to the Samba team, your are bug for bug compatable). So I finally gave up and started using Secure Shell and SSHFS, this move seems to have fixed the issues I was experiencing with Samba. No I think I will go and read the article. |

I see Falko is recommending logging in to the remote machine as root. Not a very secure practice. |

More secure than nfs, which is what I've been using on my LAN... |
