i believe to remember that already years ago people were warning about mysql copyright asignment policy not being good. if monty widenius believes that open core is a bad for business, couldn't he have prevented that from happening by not requiring copyright assignment for contributions? now we see what can happen. i believe this is part of what the warnings from the past were about. having sold mysql, monty widenius in now in a position where he no longer controls the copyright, preventing mariadb from getting turned into an open core model as well. i wish him much success with that and hope that linux distributions start picking up mariadb soon... greetings, eMBee. |

This will most likely be one of those moments FOSS folks will point back to when discussing copyright assignments required by corporations (rather than a community). |
