Alien works fine converting their provided RPM to a .deb

If you are really too lazy to convert it yourself I've left a copy on my downloads server here: http://downloads.bodhilinux.com/jeff91/misc/jdk_1.7.0-1_i386...

I was under the impression that there are official packages of Java 7 in Ubuntu? At least they're in Debian, with some Ubuntu stuff in the changelogs ;)

Oh, OpenJDK, yeah... I forgot :) I haven't had any problems with it and I'm a Java developer. Go figure :)
