Yeah, crazy for a democratic, community process

Time to "go crazy," as opposed to . . . oh, I don't know . . . waiting for a community's dictator-for-life to choose an adjective and and animal starting with the same letter and mandating that combination as irrevocable law? Admittedly, the Fedora naming convention formula -- $CURRENT_NAME is a _________ and so is $NEW_NAME -- is somewhat nerve-racking and a royal pain, but it's the community making the decision. You have to give Fedora credit for that. |

does it matter? names are less useful than i once thought. with a new name every 6 months there are so many names in use out there that i have a hard time remembering which version a name refers to. at least with debian, releases are so rare that there are at most two of them in active use, maybe three. current stable, old stable and testing. that makes it somewhat easier to remember which is which. although with ubuntu i can tell which is older of two given names. but i can't tell how old, and i still can't remember them (i remember warty and then something with h... but i don't remember which was the last one i used. but i do remember which year i switched from ubuntu to foresight (2007), and i do remember the numbers of fedora releases that i had worked with (9,12 and 14). therefore i conclude that release-names are convenient at best for distribution developers for internal use. greetings, eMBee. |

I think it should be called 'goddessTuxchick' |

Believe me, tuxchick, if I could get "$CURRENT_NAME is a _____ and so is goddessTuxchick" to work, I'd propose and lobby for it. What do you have in common with Jules Verne and or any other thing (i.e., mountain, crater, town, etc.) called Verne? @mbaehrlxer -- In the grand scheme of things, it doesn't really matter and it's not important at all. Incidentally, there was a nomination for Fedora 16 of "no name" which I hope someone will nominate again, since the case for not having a name is compelling. |

Or, they can just call it geekyBushido. I have already had one distro named after my nick and it seems to be doing pretty well. |
