I agree with part of what he says here -- or what he's trying to say here, I think, about having users get up to speed on distros -- but I don't completely agree that having distros out there that do everything but the wiping is a bad thing. On the contrary: I think having distros with training wheels leads to people who have more initiative to move up to something more. And if they don't, it's not a loss because they're using what they want. DistroWatch lists 320-something active distros. Surely there's one to fit everyone's needs (and stop calling me Shirley). |
