do we keep pushing proprietary, limited functionality applications when there are perfectly good FOSS substitutes? http://mumble.sourceforge.net/

*sigh* (Yes I know, someone is going to point out that EVERYONE uses Ventrillo or Teamspeak, or that their restrictions are fine for most people, but still....proprietary and restricted is proprietary and restricted)

i had marked this article for checking out later and would have been very frustrated to find out that it's not Free Software, had it not been for you pointing out mumble, which i didn't know either.

i'll check that out instead now...

greetings, eMBee.

Mumble/Murmur is awesome.

We've been running it for our Minecraft community and I was required to change some settings last week. It had been running stable and unattended for such a long time that I had completely forgotten where I even installed it or what the admin password was. :P

I have a server running but it doesn't really get used. hehe.

But yeah, I just get frustrated at articles telling how to setup restricted software when there are FOSS alternatives that work perfectly well and don't have all the licensing issues and restrictions.
