They have been using the word "Open" quite a bit in names of their products and in their marketing attacks, are they succeeding in their attempts to dilute the real "Open Source"? Is there an end to their shenanigans and deception? Can't they ever get tired? Quoting:Basically the term means that the source code is closed, but through open standards, different clouds implementations can work together and share data. So it looks open but it isn't. If they are making it open for others to be able to Interoperate with their software to share data, so what is the real purpose or reason behind not opening the code up then? May be afraid of getting sued for Copyright infringement? May be afraid of not being able to compete? May be to keep the competition chasing their wiggly changes and consequently maintain a monopoly lock-in? or just may be flat out hidden backdoor they don't want to reveal? No matter what the reason(s), they all seem legitimate to them and I am glad Open Source doesn't have any of them to worry about. |
