Being part of the Gnome Dev Team and turning on your computer to read that Linus thinks your work sucks? That being said, I think that the arrogance displayed by Gnome is stronger than any criticism, regardless of who levels it. I'm hoping Mint gets the 2.32 interface working with Gnome 3...it's my understanding that is their objective. |

I can imagine being a longer term user of 10.04 Ubuntu due to this and no time to decide where to go for a desktop I'm happy with. |

I'm still using Linux Mint 9, because I don't have to worry about this until April 2012. I'm hoping that's long enough to get things right. |

Happily using KDE 4.7 and I believe Gnome devs will eventually offer users multiple GUI options to select their preferred GUI from. This is kind of funny and it just goes to show that Linus is like the rest of us, except he started an operating system that arguably was historic and world-changing and we didn't. But all of us have probably been in the same boat with desktop environments and have gone from GNOME to KDE to Xfce to a window manager like Openbox and back or in a different order, but still. Also, as an aside, a developer in Mexico, Juan Rodriguez, developed Fedora 15 with the GNOME 2.32 (I think) desktop, instead of the default GNOME 3, and it's called BlueBubble. You have to Google for it if you're interested because I can't find the URL. |

For those who are so against Gnome 3 & Unity should reconsider and look at future computer devices like this one. http://www.asus.com/Eee/Eee_Pad/Eee_Pad_Transformer_TF101/ And this one http://www.att.com/shop/wireless/devices/motorola-atrix.jsp?... Both Canonical & Gnome should maintain and continue support of the classic DE interface along with the new interface. Bluebubble isn't a fork though, it is just a set of GNOME 2 packages for Fedora 15. |
