Should make a great server

The Calxeda-one mentioned in the article, features 120 quadcore nodes, totalloing 480 Cortex-A9 cores in a 2U server. Unbelievable, but including RAM it only takes 600 Watt of power consumption: About the same amount as a typical "gaming desktop" at full load. I'd say that's pretty impressive, and even more if it runs Ubuntu from the introduction! Given power consumption by the CPU / cooling is the most expensive part of data centers today, I'd say this looks pretty promising. Google, Facebook and the like might be interested. Sad though, they don't support Marvell Armada (yet?), they also make / develop promising chips for the server market. |
