I can't say I'm noticing any difficulties copy-pasting between editors (vim & gvim, gedit), xterms, and X apps (eg. web-browsers).

Come to think of it, what would that do to the familiar refrain, that it's easier to help someone with some copy/paste CLI commands, than to walk them through a highly-variable GUI interface?

And personally, I've found that having both "PRIMARY" and "CLIPBOARD" as separate copy/paste buffers, gives me sufficient flexibility that I haven't even bothered to install a clipboard utility since I first dropped Windows for Linux. If I did want a clipboard utility (I can see how it would be useful for both coding and "productivity" tasks) I'm not sure I'd want to eliminate the separation between the two buffers.
