SUSE remains my favoured distribution so I have been keen to see what would happen to it after the breakup of Novell. So far, things look good. However, given the enormous, divergent, rapturous/rupturous and partially zombied thread a little earlier, it is quite revealing to see Brauckmann's very simple reason for removing Mono from SUSE: And, there simply wasn’t much commercial demand for Mono. That's quite succinct and for me at least, an excellent economic reason. Perhaps if demand increases, Mono might return, but that depends on what happens at Xamarin. What is great to see is that LibreOffice will remain the default office suite. Personally, I am also pleased to see SUSE return to its "German origins".....I wonder if we will see the logo "SuSE" again.....probably not, only old curmudgeons like myself get misty-eyed over silly things like that. |
