Well, installing KDE on normal Ubuntu gives you the choice of both environments (as would installing Gnome in Kubuntu). Some people may want that option. |

That's very true, jdixon, and I'm just giving a nod to the Kubuntu folks who actually do the heavy hauling to provide a KDE desktop atop Ubuntu. |

It doesn't make any difference how you install it. All *buntus use the same package repos, and buntu-ized KDE and Gnome (and LXDE and XFCE) are all available in nice metapackages. |
