Hi, I'm afraid your approach was not good. If you want to have a good KDE that plays together, and working Kmail, youl should upgrade to 11.4, with KDE 4.6 - this is the best KDE so far imho. Your problems stem from unresolved deps or old libs maybe, don't blame KMail for that, it's almost perfect (no M$ Exchange support yet :( ) |

I assume the mysql dependency would be for an embedded version for the search engine dependency and not actually used as storage for your email. |

wtf. Why should a mail client require MySQL? Nutso, just plain nuts. |

TC, exactly. And the headaches of the "database" being used for the Kmail addressbook, losing data, just getting plain lost, have been frightening. I think that may be the biggest reason I've gone the Trinity-DE route: Of all the functions that have been rock-solid stable for DECADES, it's the email client address book. And somehow, for some reason, KDE4 has messed that up. In the immortal words of Chandler Bing, "Why-wh-wh-why-why-WHY???" |
