The Link Track feature does not link audio tracks, it links label tracks with audio tracks. There is no label track in any of the images in the article. This feature is in flux as the Audacity devs work the kinks out of it, and will probably not appear in the early 2.x releases. If you have a version of Audacity with the Link Track button here is what happens: Link Tracks is turned on by default. It has no effect until you create a Label Track (Tracks menu), so it can't sneak up on you. New tracks of any kind are created below existing tracks. All audio tracks above a Label Track are automatically part of a track group, linked to the Label Track. Then the whole track group is treated as a single track for some functions, but not all. Label Tracks divide track groups as this lovely text illustration shows: audio track audio track label track audio track audio track audio track label track That is two track groups. A totally nifty tool for controlling the volume of background music is Effect -Auto-Duck. This automatically raises and lowers the background music as the foreground track fades in and out. ps- doesn't LXer support HTML tags in comments anymore? like br? |

I think the br tag works in HTML. |

TC: No, we don't seem to do no more HTML no more. That's so 90's! It's BB code now, we don't need no stinking br's. Not everything works I'm afraid, but some of the formatting does. Well, try for yourself http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/misc.php?s=3ab8031f8b2cc4ce22... and please don't bring down the whole website with JavaScript injects like our fellow from Belgium did. So now we do links with square brakcets instead of <>, and 'url' instead of 'a href', like below: Carla Schroeder Once you get used to it, it's easy I suggest. |

Oops, I am in error. The current release of Audacity does link audio tracks to audio tracks. My mistake, sorry ken hess! I blame society. |

It's a funny thing, Bob, when you're in a stressful job with bad things happening, it makes your eyes read articles all wrong. Then you go back when you're in a better frame of mind and go "Wow, I sure took that the wrong way." Well, maybe not yours, but it does mine. It's a pretty good series. |

> Well, maybe not yours,... Being utterly infallable myselph, and never ever reading people's intensions the wrong wai, I've never runn axross anyone (cough*dino*couff) whome I didn't understand perfectly the first tyme. |

Well, there's infallible, and there's infallible. Let the reader decide which Bob is. |
