Apparently, the GMA600 video chipset is the embedded GPU in this thing (in all Tunnel Creek series chips). So it's more PowerVR chipset... ehem,...stuff (not the "S-word" I really want to use)...

So, plan to see this chipset in Android (possibly), Meego (Maybe) and M$ implementations, but not so much with full Linux distro support.

But actually, I almost can't believe they put the 535 in it! If that's true. It's about 4 generations old now!

After the 535 came the 540, then came the 543 multi core, and now it seems newer OMAPS (the 5 series I believe) will be shipping the 544. I guess the 544 is the successor to the 543, as I had never heard of it, nor was I able to find it on IT's website.

It's pretty interesting to see how Intel is 'outsourcing' design of their chips. Because after all, they admit they are not capable of delivering a power efficient GPU-solution themselves.

The whole point of these machines that they are small "plug" computers. Their purpose is for small embeded devices, or possibly thier inclusion on point of sale or as a small "velcro onto the back" HTPC like application, or for use with industrial control equipment. These gadgets are no bigger than the average powered USB hub...

Imagine chaining a few dozen of them together as a small cluster computer...

Probably about as useful as those guys that made a RAID array out of a dozen or so USB thumbsticks.

Which is easier than ever, thanks to the btrfs tools.

Hey, I never said it'd be USEFUL, I just said to imagine doing it. But, I bet someone will try it as a proof of concept, or just for craps & giggles. Heck, didn't somebody put a small Linux distro on a smart toaster's controller??? (Ok, I think that one's just a myth.)

And hold up... A raid array out of thumbsticks?!?! Really?!?!

PS: SGI already concieved of something like this a couple of years ago; http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2008/11/sgi-creates-con/

Child's play. How about a raid array of dead badgers? http://everything2.com/title/How to install Linux on a dead ...
