I got this comment:

Quoting:Welcome to the world of being an M$ $hill, and Linux hater. You should know that by speaking out against Ubuntu you will from now on be shunned by the community at large.

I really, truly couldn't tell whether I should file it under "angry fanboy" or "sweet sarcasm."

I'd file it under "angry fanboy" for the simple reason that the comment fails to indicate which "community at large" will shun you. Ubuntu? Debian derivs? Linux? GPL users? FOSS in general?

Or just the fanboys who can't take well-reasoned criticism? Yeah, that's it. Sadly, with Ubuntu, that community does seem to be kind of large.

It jjust drips with sarcasm, how can you be so blind?

I suspect the note was mis-addressed, since I am the resident, registered shill on LX. How could they go so wrong?

Until you show your license and registration, you're only the repeatedly-self-proclaimed shill.

I guess you know little to nothing about banking. I only get the bounced checks plus an exorbitant fee, not the few that cleared.

That's true of almost all banks now, Txt. However, most of them make them available online for you to view. As an relatively unbiased observer, if you'll provide your banking information and online banking logon details in private email, I'll be happy to verify them for the rest of the LX'er readers. :)

@tc -

Cue up George Harrison from his perch in Rock Star Heaven:

"Here comes the shun, little darling," "Won't respond in here or even Twitter"

"Here comes the shun, rant all you want, 'cos I can't hear"

"Shun, shun, shun, here it comes!"

J.D.,

That's a great idea! Can't wait to try it out. Please send the details of your respective accounts so I can confirm it works the way I expect. Being a fellow LXer, you know you can trust me an honest shill.

We can meet later in Switzerland where I will exchange my data with yours.

We'll have to wait till my wife gets back from NZ, Txt. She has all that information. I'm certain she'll jump at the chance.

How about we shoot for meeting at the next Davos summit. I'm sure you've already made your reservations. :)

Yeah, I would believe you if you brought Nicolae Ceauşescu with you.

You're right -- thanks for czeching.

In that case, I'd settle for Antonín Dvořák.
