And another possible Google imitator...

Firefox 4 might not be the sole product that is "inspired" by a Google product. This just in: The news story 'Yes, Bing Has Been Copying Google Search Results FOR YEARS' found at http://www.businessinsider.com/bing-is-cribbing-from-google-... Quoting:Microsoft uses browser toolbars to monitor what users search for and click on at Google, and then uses this information to improve Bing's search results. |

Hmm, a little reverse engineering to make a script to randomize fake results and send them to MS, I certainly see a powerful market of moral outrage for such an effort. I'd gladly run such a script, wouldn't you? |

BTW, the article you pointed to never loaded. It got to 149 of 150 images loaded, and locked up. Maybe I should try Lynx... Yep. That worked. |

Bob, I think Lynx and Midnight Commander are the cat's meow. As for Microsoft, at least they were honest about using the freely available Mosaic to create Internet Explorer. I suppose they thought it would be too obvious not to be honest back then. They learned quickly... |

Quoting:BTW, the article you pointed to never loaded. It got to 149 of 150 images loaded, and locked up.How fortuitous; the same basic Bing-copying-Google story is now accessible via http://lxer.com/module/newswire/view/147361. Maybe this LXer link will load more successfully for all browsers? |

Bob: Maybe try FF4 (IceWeasel 4 in Deb?), it seems to work. |

FF4 hasn't made it into Debian yet. |

That's why I install from trunk! http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/lates... Here's how to set it up: http://lxer.com/module/newswire/view/133401/index.html It's really far better than 3.6.13, so that's why I'm using it almost exclusively as my browser now. I have to add: chown it to root, or make sure the auto-updater is running. If you want both, you have to run as root to update (thanks bigg!). You can check the auto-updater via Edit -> Preferences -> (Tab) Advanced -> (Tab) Update. Mine was auto-updated today, which shows it works! |

IE9 interface imitate quite a lot from Chrome as well, but then I have to say Chrome imitate from Opera.

Hate to say I envy IE9 single all purpose bar. I can't use Firefox 4 yet until all my essential addons are compatible with it, but it's almost 100% there. Ofcourse, you can use "Add-on Compatibility Reporter" addon to install unsupported addons. I have been using Chromium exclusively for 6 months (and spoiled by the speed) and hoping to go back to Firefox. |

Huh, you don't need all your FF-addons in Chrome? |

Thats why I can't wait to get back to FF so I can use NoScript and Cookie Monster and GoogleSharing. In Chromium I have to disable java and cookies and enable them per site, its a pain. Yes Chromium has the buttons on top right too, but it doesn't work really well. For cookies, you have to add them to exceptions. Cookie Monster works just like NoScript. I didn't realize it, but you can also install Fennec, interesting. Probably good for minimalist users. |
