Perhaps I am too much of a "Luddite" to understand, but I read the article, followed the links and I confess I was left with confusion. Is KDE already dead or is the KDE team preparing to announce that fact ? Are we now looking at a "Plasma DE" produced by the KDE team ~ should we really be calling this desktop manager/environment "Plasma" and not KDE4.x ? Because from my perspective, that is what it seems to be moving towards. And I still do not know (nor care to know) what a "plasmoid" is.

I rather liked the enhancement to Dolphin, but I suspect this is available because of the additional complexity of Nepomuk and I have already met that piece of software under unpleasant circumstance during my difficulties with KMail.

I guess I have a "KDE3.5/Xfce simplicity" because I am beginning to shudder backwards from what the KDE team is producing in Plasma....I am being overwhelmed by complexity thrown onto complexity in Plasma, and I readily admit: I don't like it. Seriously, I can see me moving to Xfce at my next upgrade from KDE4.4 and as I recently said with OO.o, (and am preparing the same statement for Plasma): "And it's goodnight from him !"
