So is Damn Small Linux dead then and Tiny Core the new way to go for you old system? What you guys think?

I'd thought that was the hole idea of TinyCore: To replace DSL. Last time I tried DSL, it still had a 2.4 kernel. Which meant, no network on this desktop. Pretty useless if you'd ask me.

I used to use DSl a lot to test machines but with it still using the 2.4 kernel, like Hans, it has gotten so it is not as useful as it once was..

Robert Shingledecker, the developer who pretty much did everything for Damn Small Linux but wasn't in control of the project, went his own way, and thus we have TinyCore. I've spoken to him on a few occasions at SCALE, and he's a really nice guy.

As things go, TinyCore is a unique project. If you have time to muck around, it's a great thing to try out.

I'd like to have a Tiny Core tablet. It's small enough to run with only a little RAM, yet you'd have all the Linux apps you want at your fingertips. You truly do not need much processing power to run Tiny Core.

slitaz or tinycore make great alternatives to dsl
