for my camera. Problem is I completely removed F-Spot and any other GNOME oriented camera related application. So when I plug the camera in the pop up displays a no available application message. In addition there is no way to select any other application, not even the ability to select 'open Folder'. Various Ubuntu and Mint forum messages give instructions like this Quoting:Go to System -> Preferences -> Removable Drives and Media for setting the default camera application. Only problem is, I can't find such a menu entry (Removable Drives and Media) on any of my Ubuntu or Mint installs. So in the end what I did was install gThumb, plugged my camera in, selected 'Open with other application' from the drop down list (which is now available), added 'digikam --download-from %m' in the 'Use custom command' box, then uninstalled gThumb. Now every time I plug in my camera I'm offered digiKam as the default application to download photos with. |

Thanks JaseP. I've just been reading through that item, and there is was again Quoting:However, the problem was easily resolved via the GUI. All I had to do was to go to System > Preferences > Removable Drives and Media and simply change totem to xine in the relevant box. I see also that the entries are from around 2005, So I'm assuming that Canonical in their wisdom? removed that option in later releases of Ubuntu. |

The point of the original thread I referenced is that the GUI tool can be a mixed bag. I recently shared this outlook when trying to associate video files w/ VLC as opposed to Totem (better subtitle handling in VLC). It took a while to make the association stick w/ the GUI. |
