This may be a DOJ settlement violation.

M$'s consent decree prohibits them from using their monopoly to prevent the running of competing software on hardware. Somebody should alert the DOJ (like maybe Google?!?!). [I meant to post this here, earlier, but it ended up on another story.] |

I think that this fact should be used to mock all the MSFT Fanbois who want very badly, and very untruthfully, for Windows to have actually been a free market choice. Of course, in only one brief time period, around 1993-1994 did MS-DOS or Windows have any real competition, DR-DOS. And we all know what happened there: fake error messages from Windows 3.11, and a lawsuit from Gary Kildall that MSFT settled, leaving Kildall very wealthy. |

I don't believe the Obama DOJ has any more interest in challenging a large American corporation than the Bush administration did. Sad. |

Of course not, they all hav the same handshake. |

I think you oversimplify American politics, tracyanne, which is easy to do at a distance. President Clinton's DOJ was interested in going after Microsoft. I think there are still notable people here who would do so if they ended up in charge. |

caitlyn, it was said at least partly in jest. The remainder of this was posted privately to forestall any arguments my comments are bound to start. If you think it's safe to post, please do so. |
