These guys sold MySQL to Sun for 1 billion, the same guys mount up another company and sell MySQL again !!! That's not fair business ! |

What is unfair about it? Sun knew full well that MySQL is GPL licensed code and could be forked. Also, if Sun had stayed independent and not sold out to Oracle this would likely have never happened. It's Oracle's attitude to the developers and to Open Source in general that sparked this. |

Jonathan Schwartz said in an interview that he sold to Oracle rather than IBM, because with IBM, layoffs would have been certain. Now that Oracle/Ellison have dropped any pretense of not being ruthless, and the Java patents sitting under the sword of Damocles, can they expect profitability from any Sun product, other than the Sparc business? So much for minimizing the layoffs. |
